Sunhil grew up in London and was educated at Harrow School. He received his degree in English Literature from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. In 1995, pursuing his curiosity for India, he moved to Bombay to explore its film industry, working on a variety of film and television projects for three years. After directing and producing a series of shows for the then fledgling Indian television industry, he set up his own production company, Mercury Films in 1997, under which he directed his first feature film, Snip! A much discussed film for its narrative style and edgy cinematography that may have been ahead of its time for the Indian film industry but right on time for the direction Indian advertising was taking.

Agency Creatives were on the look-out for new talent to lend fresh treatment to their scripts and Sunhil was just the guy. In 2000, he joined Highlight Films as a Director Sunhil Sippy and was soon producing stunning work that established a reputation for raising the standard of many campaigns by making ordinary messages look extraordinary. He has a string of successful campaigns, is loved by Agency Creative Partners and a measure of his success is his continual work on the same brands. In 2005, Sunhil became a Partner at Highlight as he continues to direct Indian as well as International campaigns and commercials.
